Was ist das?
Die Detmolder Design Woche ist ein Event um Kunst- und Designbegeisterte in Detmolds Ateliers und Leerstände zu ziehen und neuen Ideen im Bereich Design und Kunst eine qualitative Bühne zu bieten. Die erste Detmolder Design Woche hat 2022 hat mehr als 1500 Besucher:Innen angezogen und ist auf großes Interesse der lokalen Bevölkerung gestoßen.
Auf der Detmolder Design Woche sind alle mit Interesse an Kunst und Design willkommen, egal ob selbstständig, im Studium, im Kindesalter oder in Rente. Ziel ist es, Menschen aus allen Lebenslagen über kreative Disziplinen in Kontakt zu bringen. Die Veranstaltung ist deshalb auch eintrittsfrei.
Während der Detmolder Design Woche werden an verschiedenen Standorten Ausstellungen gezeigt die zum Thema Design und Kunst passen. Neben den Ausstellungen findest du auch zahlreiche Workshops, Lesungen oder partizipative Aktionen in der ganzen Innenstadt.
What is?
Every year in May, the Detmold Design Week brings together creative people from the region in events, exhibitions and workshops to give Detmold a broad stage for art and design and thus support young designers. During May Week, sprawling galleries, intricate studios or daring student projects can be found throughout the city and on the forward-thinking campus of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences.
Everyone with an interest in art and design is welcome at the Detmold Design Week, whether self-employed, studying, a child or retired. The goal is to bring people from all paths of life into contact through creative disciplines. The event is therefore also free of admission.
During the Detmold Design Week there will be exhibitions at different locations that fit the theme of design and art. In addition to the exhibitions, you will also find numerous workshops, readings or participatory actions throughout the city center.
Wo ist was?
Die Standorte der Detmolder Design Woche findest du im Detmolder Stadtraum. Jedes Jahr finden wir zusammen mit der Stadt Detmold Immobilien und Leerstände in Detmold, welche während der Veranstaltung in Ausstellungs- und Eventflächen werden. Darum Wandern die Standorte jedes Jahr ein bisschen durch die Stadt.
Hinzu kommen Detmolds Galerien und Ateliers von freischaffenden Gestalter:innen sowie der Campus der Technischen Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe. Du kannst dich nämlich auch mit deinem eigenen Standort bewerben und selbst entscheiden wann und wie du deine Türen öffnen möchtest. Auf der Karte taucht dein Standort dann natürlich auch, genauso wie alle anderen, auf.
Die Karte zur DDW hilft dir dann dabei, alle Standorte und Ateliers im Blick zu behalten, damit ihr auch nichts verpasst. Diese findest du entweder als Flyer während der Detmolder Design Woche oder Online hier auf der Website.
Die Grabbestraße in Detmold wird, wie im letzten Jahr, wieder als Zentrum der Detmolder Design Woche präsentiert. Hier findest Workshops, Ausstellungen, Getränke und Essen. Ganz in der Nähe ist auch das Detmolder Design Woche Info-Café. Hier gibt es Flyer, Plakate, Merch und Kaffe.
Where is?
The locations of the Detmold Design Week can be found in the city of Detmold. Every year we find together with the city of Detmold real estate and vacancies in Detmold, which become during the event in exhibition and event spaces. That’s why the locations wander a bit through the city every year.
In addition, there are Detmold’s galleries and studios of freelance designers as well as the campus of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences. You can also apply with your own location and decide for yourself when and how you want to open your doors. Of course, your location will appear on the map, just like all the others.

The Grabbestraße in Detmold is, like last year, again presented as the center of the Detmold Design Week. Here you will find workshops, exhibitions, drinks and food. Nearby is also the Detmolder Design Woche Info-Café. Here you can find flyers, posters, merch and coffee.
Wie kann man mitmachen?
Aussteller:innen
Wenn du als Aussteller:in mitmachen willst, kannst du unter diesem Link deine Bewerbung einreichen. Die Chance, dass du genommen wirst hängt natürlich von der Anzahl und Größe der Räumlichkeiten ab. Deshalb können wir nicht garantieren, dass alle Bewerber:innen genommen werden. Wir geben aber unser Bestes, dass jede:r eine Chance bekommen.
Besucher:innen
Wenn du die Detmolder Design Woche einfach nur besuchen möchtest um die Standorte und Workshops zu sehen, kannst du dort einfach während der Öffnungszeiten hingehen (die Öffnungszeiten findest du hier). Alle Standorte sind eintrittsfrei und familiengerecht. Durch die Gegebenheiten der Leerstände können wir leider nicht immer garantieren, dass alle Standorte auch barrierefrei sind.

How can I join?
Exhibitors
If you want to participate as an exhibitor, you can submit your application under this link. The chance that you will be accepted depends of course on the number and size of the available spaces. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that all applicants will be accepted. But we will do our best to give everyone an opportunity.
Visitors
You can visit the Detmold Design Week to see the locations and workshops for free. you can just show up during the given opening hours on the website (you can find them here). All locations are admission free and family friendly. Unfortunately, due to the nature of Detmold’s vacancies, we cannot always guarantee that all locations will be accessible.

Wer steckt dahinter?
Die Detmolder Design Woche wird geplant und ausgeführt durch den Detmolder Design Woche e.V. Mit Hilfe von der Stadt Detmold und Förderpartnern aus der Wirtschaft werden anfallende Kosten und Ausgaben gedeckt.
Der Verein besteht aus ehrenamtlichen Mitgliedern,hauptsächlich aus dem studentischen Umfeld Detmolds. Dennoch können alle Personen, die Lust haben, mitwirken und die Detmolder Design Woche noch besser machen.

Wir als Verein versuchen immer, dass alles was wir machen, von Planung bis hin zum Marketing, so transparent wie möglich nach außen getragen wird. The Detmolder Design Woche is planned and realized by the Detmolder Design Woche e.V.. With the help of the city of Detmold and sponsoring partners in the design industry, costs and expenses of the event are covered.
