Giulia Spinelli is an Italian dancer based in Germany since 2018 and has been working with the Landestheater Detmold for the past 4 years. She was trained as a dancer at the Accademia Nazionale di danza in Rome, the École Nationale Superieure de danse de Marseille and the Joffrey Ballet in New York. She has been working as a professional dancer for the last nine years all over Europe and the United States. Currently she is part of the Landestheater Detmold, before that the Landestheater Flensburg, the Imperfect Dancers company, the Big Muddy Dance company, Ballet Memphis all the way back to La Biennale di Venezia danza in 2017 were she worked for two years in a row under the direction of Marie Chouinard. She then worked as a freelance dancer in Berlin from 2018 to 2020 and took part in two consecutive editions of the B12 Festival, working in workshops with Felix Landerer, Evangelos Puolinas, Marcos Morau, Victor Rottier and Johannes Wieland and performing for “Empty hour- gravitational attraction” by Judith Sanchez and Ania Catherine.
In Berlin she had the opportunity to experiment, study and strengthen herself in new styles such as physical theatre and dance theatre, between ballet, contemporary and improvisation on which she has always focused.
She also had the chance to approach the movement language of Ohad Naharin Gaga and took part in several workshops and classes by Guy Shomroni, Ya’ara Dolev, Yael Schnell, Olivia Ancona and Tanja Saban in Germany and Israel.
She worked with Judith Sanchez, Africa Guzman, Gabrielle Lamb, Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson among others. During her years of professional experience as a dancer she also had the opportunity to choreograph for Ballet Memphis “Interiorworks” with the work “Hier Encore” and for the Landestheater Detmold “Junge Choreografen” with the works “Weightless-Heaviness”, “Nonna” and “Hier bin Ich!” and most recently since spring 2024 a duet “Intwined” created with Levin Mischel for the Wettenberg Competition Landestheater Detmold.

Levin Mischel was born on June 20, 2000 in Münsterlingen (CH). He spent the first five years of his life in the City of Konstanz, Germany. In 2004, he moved back to Switzerland with his mother and sister for Family reasons and spend the majority of his youth in the small town of Märstetten. He had his first contact with dance at the age of six in a flamenco studio, where his mother was taking lessons. When Levin turned eleven he stumbled over a chance a to go to his sister’s ballet classes and decided to join in out of boredom, he discovered his passion for dance and the teacher discovered the necessary talent in him.
Upon the teacher’s recommendation, he went to an audition at the Zurich Dance Academy under the direction of Oliver Matz and Steffi Scherzer. Shortly afterwards, he became part of the 2011/12 class and started his education as a professional dancer. During the eight years of study, he had ballet lessons six days a week, followed by pas de deux, modern, contemporary or character dance, variating the lessons from day to day, as well as four ballet evenings with two pieces each year.
At the age of 19, Levin received his federal certificate of proficiency as a stage dancer EFZ and began his professional career at the Theater Chemnitz, under the direction of Sabrina Sadowska. Since October 2019 to the present day, he has repeatedly appeared in major classical productions such as Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, but modern pieces such as Sacré du Printemps, as well as operas and theater are part of the program for the 22-year-old dancer. In 2023 Levin left Chemnitz to join the Ballett ensemble of the Landestheater Detmold, where he since then participated in Solo rolls like “Tybalt” in Romeo & Juliet, or “Rotbart” in “Swan lake” as well as in multiple other Productions. During the beginning of his time in Landestheater Detmold he also started to build on his curiosity for choreographing. He helped co-choreographing a dance theatrical piece called “Man kann die Wahrheit nicht erzählen” in the Summer Summer of 2023 in one of his former hometowns, Konstanz and also started his completely alone standing pieces like “(Un)silenced” and “Intwined” together with Giulia Spinelli, which he presented in the Young Choreographers evening und the Landestheater Detmold.

Das Stück „Intwined“ reflektiert, was passiert, wenn zwei Energien oder Individuen zusammenkommen. Alles und jeder hat eine helle und eine dunkle Seite, wie Tag und Nacht oder Yin und Yang. Welche gewinnt, hängt einzig und allein von einem selbst und seinem Umfeld ab. Die eigene Energie im Gleichgewicht zu halten, ohne die Energie eines anderen zu beeinflussen, ist nahezu unmöglich und ein Energieaustausch ist daher unausweichlich. Geben und Nehmen ist ein weiterer Begriff, der für diese Art der Interaktion verwendet werden könnte und die meiste Zeit geschieht dies nicht auf faire Weise. Das eine kann jedoch nicht ohne das andere existieren und dies erzeugt einen ständigen Kreislauf aus Bewegung und Veränderung, den wir alle als Leben kennen.
